  17.      Over the past several weeks, I have found several questions about
  18. "spasmodic torticollis" in my mail.  This is a condition in which the muscles
  19. of the neck contract involuntarily, twisting the neck and position of the head
  20. into abnormal attitudes, and producing abnormal movements.  This is one of a
  21. group of disorders known as "focal dystonias" (involuntary muscle spasms) and
  22. not to be confused with the run of the mill "stiff necks". In researching the
  23. condition, I discovered fine patient education brochure from the Dystonia
  24. Medical Research Foundation.  The Foundation was established in 1976 by the
  25. Belzberg family of Canada after a family member was found to have generalized
  26. torsion dystonia.  The Foundation now is an organization of people with
  27. dystonia, and their families friends and supporters.  You may obtain the
  28. booklet "Spasmodic Torticollis", by sending your request with a stamped self
  29. addressed envelope to DYSTONIA, 8383 Wilshire Blvd.  Beverly Hills, CA 90211
  30. and mentioning that you read about the booklet in Dr. Bruckheim's medical
